Uttoxeter Juniors Under 7’s recently took part in a SCI 5-Aside Football Tournament in Skegness. This was only possible as some key funding was secured from the Heath Big Local.
Uttoxeter Juniors U7’s took part in the two day tournament and finished as tournament ‘runners up’ in the U7 section. This was the first tournament this team has ever entered.
Coach Jason Ainsworth said: “Securing the funding from the Heath Big Local was essential for the trip to happen. So I want to say a massive thanks to Lynne and her committee members for all their support, which ensured this ‘fun-filled adventure’ for the lads and parents took place.
“The fact we finished second in our first tournament was an incredible achievement by the lads, as they were up against some very large squads of players, who were able to change their teams frequently in the warm conditions. The lads each received a ‘Runners Up’ trophy from BBC Football Pundit, Kevin Kilbane at the Sunday Night Awards Night. Well done lads and all the parents for supporting this great achievement!”
“Heath Big Local are very pleased to have helped fund this trip to Skegness for these youngsters,” said Lynne Shelton, member of Heath Big Local.
“All of the coaches and trainers with Uttoxeter Juniors are volunteers and they work very hard for the players. One of our priorities is to support the volunteers in our community who work so hard to raise aspiration and sporting education.
“We’d like to congratulate Uttoxeter Juniors on a most excellent result. Both players and coaches have worked really hard towards it and it’s very well deserved. We hope they had a lot of fun!”
