Local autism group receive funding from HBL

Wendy Harrogate from Uttoxeter’s Autism Pyramid Group thanks the Heath Big Local for funding.

With the government cuts to spending, children with autism have fewer opportunities to meet and play in a supporting and accepting environment. Their parents/carers also have few chances to meet others in a similar situation to share advice and support each other.

The Autism Pyramid Group meets both of these needs.

We currently hold a monthly Stay and Play Session at Wilfred House and also have use of the Quakers Garden for Summer activities.

The donation from the Heath Big Local will ensure that we can continue to offer our service and support to the many families who need it. Our membership has grown from seventeen families to thirty during the last twelve months and we hope this will continue as there are very few alternatives in the local area.

The Autism Pyramid Group are extremely grateful to the Heath Big Local who have agreed to fund us for a second time.

The donation will be used to purchase musical instruments, towards rental costs and to provide trips and outings during the Summer Holidays – a time which many families find difficult with the lack of structure and routine which our children thrive on.

Without the continued support of the community we would not have been successful in sustaining this service and on behalf of all our families I would like to say a massive Thank You.
