Much needed funding received by 1st Uttoxeter Scout Group

The 1st Uttoxeter Scout Group has been the latest beneficiary of the Heath Big Local Community Chest.

Recently, the Heath Big Local presented the Group with a cheque for £6,234.00 to cover the cost of some much needed reconfiguration inside building work at their HQ in Sunnyside Road.

The first-class brick built headquarters has one main hall and a smaller room (converted many years ago from an integral garage) which is the subject of the improvements. The grant will enable the Group to construct a wall dividing the room into two parts. One third of the room will be divided into two separate units, one for tent storage & one (which will open into the main hall) for easy storage of tables and chairs.

There will also be some improvement to the roof area in this section giving further storage. The remaining two thirds of this area will provide an excellent small quiet room for work with small groups of boys and girls.

When the work on the HQ is completed it will provide excellent improved facilities which will also be available for local groups in Uttoxeter to meet and hold events, i.e. kitchen, toilets, large hall and small meeting room. The plan is for these improvements to be carried out during the school summer holidays so that there will be no disruption to the Group’s weekly meetings.

The Group is most grateful to the Heath Big Local for providing funding for this project which will give enhanced facilities for the young people who are members of the 1st Uttoxeter Scout Group and for local people and organisations.
